How Does The DAF AdBlue System Work?
The SCR system injects AdBlue (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) into the exhaust system where it reacts with exhaust gases inside the SCR catalyst.
The system consists of:

- Heated Supply Lines

- P229F

AdBlue Pump Failure
The pump must generate sufficient pressure before dosing can begin.

- Low pressure faults

Blocked AdBlue Injector
AdBlue naturally crystallises when exposed to air.
Over time this can partially or completely block the injector.

Crystallised AdBlue
Poor servicing or infrequent use allows AdBlue crystals to build inside:

Engine Derate & Restart Countdown
One of the most frustrating features of Euro 6 DAF trucks is the emissions countdown.
Initially you’ll see an AdBlue warning.
If ignored, the vehicle may:
- Reduce engine torque
- Limit vehicle speed
- Display a restart countdown
- Eventually refuse to restart
Once the countdown reaches zero, the vehicle usually requires the underlying fault to be repaired before normal operation is restored.
