Vehicle-Specific Calibration
ECUFLASH does not use generic "off-the-shelf" calibration files. Your vehicle's ECU is read over OBD before any work begins — live data including injection timing, fuel trims, boost pressure, and knock sensor activity is reviewed first.
The calibration is written and applied to your specific vehicle, with its specific mileage, condition, and any existing modifications taken into account. Your original file is backed up before any changes are made.
After programming, the vehicle is driven and data-logged to verify the calibration behaves correctly across the rev range before it leaves our workshop.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2?
Stage 1 remapping is available for verified petrol and diesel vehicles and is carried out on a standard, unmodified vehicle. Stage 2 is an enquiry-only service for petrol and diesel vehicles with relevant hardware changes. ECUFLASH will review the vehicle and its specification before confirming whether Stage 2 work is suitable.
Will a remap show on a dealer diagnostic scan?
The calibration file stored on the ECU will be different from the original factory version — any tool that reads the file can detect this. Some manufacturers store calibration version numbers separately. If you need to present the vehicle to a dealer, we can restore the original file from our backup.
Is ECU remapping safe for the engine?
When performed correctly with accurate calibration data and the right diagnostic equipment, ECU remapping does not damage the engine. ECUFLASH reads the live operating parameters before programming and writes calibrations that stay within the engine's design limits. We back up the original file and can restore it at any point.
Will it affect my fuel economy?
A performance remap may have a neutral effect on fuel economy when the vehicle is driven the same way as before — the additional power is available but not always used. An economy-focused remap or blended map is calibrated specifically to improve MPG, typically by optimising torque delivery at lower RPM so less throttle input is needed to maintain speed.
Do I need to declare a remap to my insurer?
Yes. ECU remapping constitutes a modification and must be disclosed to your insurance provider. Failure to do so may affect the validity of your policy.
