What Does the EGR valve do?

In an engine there is something called an EGR valve. What this valve does is it circulates exhaust gasses into the engine. It does this because when your John Deere is idle (stood still) there is too much oxygen in the engine meaning it gives out more noxious gases and emissions.

The EGR valve circulates the exhaust gases back into the engine to reduce the amount of oxygen meaning less emissions are created by the engine.

The Issue

The issue with this is that after some time the EGR valve becomes blocked. Especially in diesel vehicles because the exhaust gases have a lot of soot/carbon deposit in it. Which gets stuck to the sides of the valve leading to it getting blocked. When the EGR valve gets blocked the engine. Then in your John Deere will become sluggish and you will begin to notice a drop in power.

The Fix

If the EGR valve in your John Deere is deleted then the engine will run a lot smoother as there are no exhaust gases getting pumped back into your engine making it run cleaner smoother and better. Also without the coding for the EGR valve the ECU won’t prepare for the opening of the EGR valve meaning. It won’t alter the fuel and spark of the engine meaning. There is no delay meaning everything will generally run a lot smoother.

Also with a John Deere engine once the EGR valve is removed the life of the engine will be lengthened dramatically because when the EGR valve gets blocked in a John Deere the engine will run at a much higher temperature which will wear out the engine a lot quicker than if the EGR valve was removed.
