Axle Programming
Lift axle, tag axle, and tandem axle programming for commercial trucks. Volvo and Renault specialists. Configuration, fault diagnosis, and threshold programming using manufacturer-level equipment.
How Lift Axle Systems Work
The Volvo, Renault, and other manufacturer lift axle (TAG/Tandem) systems are electronically controlled — a dedicated axle control unit or the main vehicle ECU determines when to raise and lower the axle based on load, speed, and driver input.
When the vehicle is partially loaded or empty, the second drive axle is raised off the ground. This reduces rolling resistance (improving fuel economy), reduces tyre wear on the lifted axle, and lightens the steering — making the vehicle easier to manoeuvre in tight spaces.
Programming determines the exact conditions under which the axle lifts and lowers. Incorrect thresholds can waste fuel, damage tyres, or cause axle load compliance issues. ECUFLASH set these parameters correctly for each vehicle's operation profile using manufacturer-specific tools.

Remote Lift Axle Programming
For many Volvo and Renault lift axle systems, programming can be carried out remotely — we send the programming module, you connect it to the vehicle OBD port, our engineers complete the configuration from Doncaster.
